Training & Advisory

Some teams don’t need me to come in and build things. They need help leveling up their own capabilities, or having someone to call when they hit a wall.

This isn’t a formal training program with a fixed curriculum. It’s more practical than that.

Team Training

If your team needs to get up to speed on cloud infrastructure, IaC, CI/CD, or related topics, I can put together focused sessions tailored to your actual stack and challenges. These are hands-on workshops using your real infrastructure, not generic slide decks about AWS services you’ll never use.

Typical topics include:

  • Infrastructure as Code with Terraform or Pulumi
  • Cloud networking and security fundamentals for developers
  • CI/CD pipeline design and best practices
  • Cost-aware development: how engineering decisions affect your cloud bill
  • Debugging and observability in cloud environments

Sessions work best when they’re tied to something concrete your team is working on. “Teach us Terraform” is fine, but “teach us Terraform so we can manage the infrastructure Chris just set up for us” is better.

Advisory

If you have a team that’s generally capable but occasionally runs into infrastructure decisions or problems that are outside their expertise, an ongoing advisory relationship might make sense. This looks like:

  • Being available for questions via Slack or email
  • Periodic check-ins to review what the team is working on
  • Weighing in on architecture decisions before they become expensive commitments
  • Helping debug issues that come up between engagements

I don’t currently offer this as a formal retainer product with fixed hours. If it’s something you’re interested in, reach out and we can figure out what makes sense for your situation.
